This WPN explains how Samsung collects, uses, shares and stores your personal information when you use the Solve for Tomorrow Website. It should always be read in conjunction with the GPP.
If there is any inconsistency or conflict between this WPN and the GPP, the terms of the WPN will take precedence.
Samsung Electronics (UK) Limited is the data controller responsible for processing your personal data.
What types of information will Samsung collect about you?
When you register on the Solve for Tomorrow Website, we collect the following categories of information:
– Name
– Email
– School name
– School address (or home address, if a home educator)
– Job title
If you choose to enter the Samsung Solve For Tomorrow competition, we may collect additional information (see the Competition Privacy Notice).
How is the collected information used?
Samsung uses the personal information described above for the following purposes:
- To understand engagement – including how many unique schools are downloading programme resources – so we can report on the reach and impact of the programme
- To send you updates about the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow programme and/or Samsung products and services, if you have opted in to receive marketing communications
- To fulfil requests for an Imagination Toolbox card deck, if you are eligible (see the Imagination Toolbox terms and conditions)
- To manage and operate the programme, including contacting you about student entries if you choose to enter the competition and announcing who has won. For more information on how your data is used in this context, please refer to the Competition Privacy Notice (“CPN”)
Samsung processes your personal data based on the following legal grounds:
- Contractual necessity – for example, to provide access to Solve for Tomorrow and to identify and authenticate you as a participant
- Legal compliance – such as meeting accounting obligations or making required disclosures to law enforcement
- Legitimate interests – including managing our relationship with you and improving the operation of Solve for Tomorrow
- Consent – for example, to send you marketing communications. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us as outlined in the How to contact us section of this Privacy Notice. Withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn.
How can you delete information obtained by Samsung?
You may contact Samsung’s data protection team at dataprotection.seuk@samsung.com to request that your personal data is deleted. Please note that we will be unable to continue with your access to Solve for Tomorrow content and activities if you request to be deleted. In some cases, it may take some time before the information saved on our servers is completely deleted.
To whom do we disclose your personal information?
We may disclose your information internally within our business to the relevant teams such as, without limitation, the customer services team, the legal team, and where you have chosen to receive marketing messages, the marketing teams.
We will also disclose your information to third party agencies and service providers which we may use to assist us in the operation of Solve for Tomorrow from time to time, e.g. with competition administration, marketing and fulfilment. Examples include, but are not limited to, Hark (privacy policy), Dotdigital (privacy policy), Schools Marketing Company (privacy policy), The Education Company (privacy policy), and bakergoodchild (privacy policy).
Please note that we may also share your personal data with other members of the Samsung Electronics Group of companies, where this is relevant.
How We Protect Your Personal Information
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the personal information we obtain through Samsung against unlawful or unauthorised destruction, interference, loss, alteration, access, disclosure, or use. However, please note that despite our reasonable efforts to protect your information, no system or wireless connection is completely secure.
International Data Transfer
Your personal information may be transferred outside the UK, including to countries such as the Republic of Korea, in connection with the operation of the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow programme. Samsung takes appropriate measures to ensure your data remains protected.

Privacy Notice for Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Competition 2025/26 (Teachers and Home Educators)
This Privacy Notice is supplemental to Samsung’s general privacy policy at www.samsung.com/uk/info/privacy/ (“GPP”) and explains the privacy practices of Samsung Electronics (UK) Limited, a company incorporated under the laws of England and headquartered at Samsung House, 2000 Hillswood Drive, Chertsey, Surrey KT16 0RS (together “Samsung”, “we”, “us”, “our”) with respect to the information collected by Samsung for the purposes of the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition (“Solve for Tomorrow”).
This Privacy Notice provides details about how as an Applicant (a teacher or home educator entering students’ work) your personal information will be collected, used, shared, and stored by Samsung as part of the Solve for Tomorrow Competition 2024/25, and should always be read together with the GPP.
In case of any inconsistency or conflict between the terms of this Privacy Notice and the GPP, the terms of this Privacy Notice shall prevail.
Samsung Electronics (UK) Ltd acts as data controller for the processing of your personal data.
What types of information will Samsung collect about you?
When you submit your participants’ entry or entries for Solve for Tomorrow Competition 2024/25, we will collect the following categories of information about you (the teacher or home educator):
- Name
- School name
- School address
- School telephone number
How is the collected information used?
Samsung will use the collected information described above for the following purposes:
- To register your participant(s)’ entry or entries for Solve for Tomorrow Competition 2025/26;
- To contact you regarding your participant(s)’ entry or entries for Solve for Tomorrow Competition 2025/26;
- To administer the running and operation of Solve for Tomorrow Competition 2025/26;
- Where you have opted in to marketing, to provide you with information about our products and services.
- With your separate consent, we may make your personal details available on the Solve for Tomorrow Website, for PR purposes, on social media and on other forms of communication to publicise Solve for Tomorrow.
Samsung’s legal basis to process personal data includes processing that is: necessary for the performance of the contract between you and Samsung (for example, to provide you with Solve for Tomorrow and to identify and authenticate you so you may take part in Solve for Tomorrow); necessary to comply with legal requirements (for example, to comply with applicable accounting rules and to make mandatory disclosures to law enforcement); necessary for Samsung’s legitimate interests (for example, to manage our relationship with you and to improve the operation of Solve for Tomorrow); and based on obtaining your separate consent (for example, to communicate with you about our products and services and provide you with marketing information), which may subsequently be withdrawn at any time by contacting us as specified in the How to Contact Us section of this Privacy Notice without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

Please note that we will be unable to continue with your participant(s)’ entries for Solve for Tomorrow (or to otherwise include you in Solve for Tomorrow activities) if you request to be deleted. In some cases, it may take some time before the information saved on our servers is completely deleted.

International Data Transfer
Your use of Samsung Solve for Tomorrow may involve the transfer, storage, and processing of your information outside of your country of residence, consistent with this policy. Please note that the data protection and other laws of countries to which your information may be transferred might not be as comprehensive as those in your country. We will take appropriate measures, in compliance with applicable law, to ensure that your personal information remains protected. Retention of Personal Data
We take appropriate steps to ensure that information about you is only retained based on the following logic:
– At least the duration for which the information is used to provide you with the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow related services (and no later than 3 months after the competition finishes);
– As required under law, a contract, or with regard to our statutory obligations; or
– Only for as long as is necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, is processed, or longer if required under any contract, by applicable law, or for statistical purposes, subject to appropriate safeguards.
Your data (name, email address, school name, school address and telephone number) may be kept for up to three (3) years in accordance with GDPR.
Your Rights and Choices
You are entitled, in accordance with applicable law, to object to or request restriction of the processing of your personal information, to exercise your right of data portability and to request access to, rectification, or removal of your own personal information.
Please note, however, that if you decline to allow Samsung to collect or share certain information, you and your participant(s) may not be able to participate in Solve for Tomorrow.
You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you consider that our processing of your personal data infringes applicable law. The relevant supervisory authority for the UK is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

Privacy Notice for Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Competition 2025/26 (Semi-finalists and Finalists)
This information is our Privacy Notice for children. A Privacy Notice tells you information including what personal data we collect and how we use it.

Who are we?
We are Samsung Electronics, and we are running the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow competition. We are responsible for making sure that your personal information is kept safe and used properly.
What is personal data?
Personal data is any information that can identify you. This could be your name or email address, or it could even be a picture.
How do you get my personal data?
If you reach the second or third phase of the Solve for Tomorrow competition, your teacher or home educator may need to provide some of your personal data so that you may continue to participate – such as your name.
When we collect personal data, we only collect what we need. If we need extra information, we will ask for consent from you or your guardian first.
Phase 2 Make it and Phase 3 Pitch it – What information do we collect?
During the second and third phases of the competition, we may collect:
- Your name
- Your age and year group
- Your gender
- Your school’s name
- Your competition entry
- Photos of you (with permission from you or your parent or carer)
- Videos of you taking part in events (with permission from you and your parent or carer)
This counts as personal data, so if you are under 13 we will get permission from your parent or carer to collect and store it.
Why do we need this information?
We need your information to:
- Announce who has been selected as a semi-finalist and/or finalist
- Organise mentoring with a Samsung employee
- Share your entry on our website or social media (with your school but not your name) unless we get consent from you and your parent or carer.
Who will see your information?
Your information will only be seen by the people who help run the competition and deliver mentoring. This includes Samsung and our partner, Hark.
The adult copy of the Privacy Policy has the longer list of who we might share your information with, and where it might be sent.
How long will we keep your information?
We will keep your details until any prizes that we win have been given to you. After that, we will delete your information by 31 December 2026.
Your rights
You have rights over your personal information, including:
- The right to ask what information we have about you
- The right to ask us to delete your information
- The right to ask us to correct anything that is wrong
